Lidocaine Gel by Natural Radiance
 
Lidocaine Gel is a combination of Lidocaine USP and a standardized Feverfew herbal extract. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that can reduce the sensation of pain transmitted through the nerves. Feverfew (chrysanthemum parthenium) has been used to reduce fevers, treat headaches and arthritis. It is the number one herb used by herbalists for the treatment of migraines and tension headaches as well as for relieving accompanying symptoms like nausea.
Dr. Frederick Freitag of the Diamond Headache Clinic in Chicago reported that Lidocaine cream applied to the forehead during a migraine headache can provide rapid pain relief for some migraine patients. Lidocaine apparently works to stop the migraine by carrying painkilling messages from the peripheral nerves back to the areas in the brain where migraines are believed to start. At an annual meeting of the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology, Dr. Freitag presented the research of a placebo-controlled trial of 40 migraine patients. Of those patients using Lidocaine, seven were pain-free in 2 hours and eight were pain-free in 8 hours compared to none in the placebo-treated group. There were no significant side effects. Dr. Freitag noted. "When patients get a migraine attack, it takes time for normal oral medication to work, while this provides relief very quickly." He added, "We foresee people using it primarily as a mainstay of therapy."
